Tall Grass

Target white loose tee, vintage levis cutoffs, red converse low tops
I guess some people may ask "Why the heck do you spend as much time and money on clothesas you do?" Its a valid question. Why do I spend $210 on a pair of heels that I will probably only wear a handful of times? There are people out there that probably think that I dont have an answer for them, that I dont know why I have this blog or wear what I wear. The thing is, I do.

Picture a mountain of clothing on the floor. Its messy. Its chaos. You glimpse brands, names, designers, colors, patterns. Volcom, Marc Jacobs, Forever 21, neon, checkerboard, plaid, yellow, ribbons, satin, stripes, paint splatters, cotton, denim, houndstooth. This mountain of chaos and fabrics and patterns and names is basically nothing. Its a pile of clothing on the floor. Thats it. But maybe you go to the pile and you pick out a silk turquoise batwing top and light blue denim cutoffs and a navy tulle scarf and some yellow neon jelly flip flops. Suddenly its something.

I love taking pieces of clothing and putting them together to create something. To give an image of something. To basically make art. Whether it be rock n roll, punk, goth, glamour, 80s, sophistication, I love making these pieces that are basically nothing until you put them on and do things with them. I love describing clothing. Theres something so satisfying about being able to identify what youre doing or what youre wearing. Like... a butter leather black motorcycle finished with silver metallic buckles and a zipper. Or.. look! I just bought an acid washed denim jacket. Or a seductive wine colored silk dress. Or a red and black wool cape. I love making garments into something, and I love describing them. Thats it.

This is my fashion blogger love story. Whats yours?

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

This red button up I have on here is see-through actually, and it has designs on it like something Keith Haring would do... i.e. the design is kinda like this.

My school is putting on a production and a few of us have to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" So this has been basically stuck in my head lately.

P.s. I downloaded the game Peggle for my iPod touch. Soooo addicting...

Color Convention

I just about died and went to heaven when I saw this picture. I love the accordion-like folds in the jacket, which boy, I cant say enough of. Look at those crazy tricked out colors going all pastel on us, not to mention the green and gold beading. Total perfection. Id wear this all year long, plus its a nice break from all the Chris Pine photos that have been floating around my laptop the last couple of days. Speaking of wearing/clothing/seasons, this is my current summer "must have" list:
  • neon
  • delicate silver chains
  • loose tank tops
  • oversized pocket tees
  • light blue denim pencil skirt
  • big oversized frames
  • bleached shorts
  • and more...!
What do you plan on wearing this summer?

Sophomore

I recently discovered the brand Sophomore, which I read about in Nylon when they did a little bio on it. The line was described as a sort of laid back 70s vibe with dresses and pieces fit for Venice beach. I can tell you that the 70s is definitely my favorite era above any other and I must say, after hearing that thats what the line is based off of I was already pretty hooked. Sophomore was initially started by the tshirt maker Chrissie Miller but then later grew to include the line of sportswear you see today with extra designing help from Madeline von Froomer who has worked at Proenza Schouler.

I can tell you now Im basically dying over the aqua shoulder cut out dress, the black zipper tank and peach zipper skirt. Sadly with my budget I wont be able to afford any of these pieces, though Id really go crazy if I owned them. Arent they just lovely to look at?

Mustang Sally

I thought Id try to get a picture with my neighbors three horses. Kinda worked, didnt it?

This denim jacket has been in the back of my closet since I disowned it in fourth grade, but I fished it out a few days ago and apologized profusely to it for abandoning it so long. I havent looked back since. It has these gorgeous details from the 70s on it of a bunny, a carrot, and a sunset on the back.

Collective Soul

This is a little gathering of past collections that have struck my fancy over the last couple of days.
1st- Luella S/S 09. I love all of these pretty colors. I remember seeing a whole editorial of Luella's clothing and an interview with her in Lula and I just fell in love. The pretty lilacs and fun florals have really done something to me here.

2nd- Basso and Brook S/S 09. Im not really sure If I would wear anything here but the colors were absolutely astounding. All the origami pleating and vibrant oranges was absolutely incredible. Its insane to think that someone actually thought all of it up and made these garments.

3rd- Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 08. When I first previewed this collection, I didnt think much of it, however upon watching Glee, which basically the entire cast was outfitted in this collection, I changed my mind. The green houndstooth here totally stole my heart, as well as the dark structured coats and Off the Deep End black tee. What is that, a. leather. dress? Say whaaaa?

Bleached Skinnies

Ive wanted a pair for a long time and was super happy when Chip and Pepper gifted me these as a little Congrats! for the Teen Vogue interview. By the way they have a blog (which, coincidentally, I helped them make back in February when I interned for them) and they were recently featured in the newest issue of Teen Vogue. Congrats and thanks C + P!

P.s. For those of you who said I copied Karla on my alter ego, Ive actually seen quite a few of those posts from other bloggers, so I figured it was something already established. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Id also like to bring up this quote from Camille's blog: "Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everybody I've ever known."

Meet Sylvia

I was figuring out different ways to wear my black blazer and came up with this. Its not exactly my style but I realized it was possibly what my alter ego Sylvia would wear. So without further adieu, meet Sylvia.
Sylvia was born in America but grew up partly in France and partly in Russia. She speaks six languages, including Mandarin, and German, and often travels to far away places like the Canary Islands and Egypt. Sylvia works for the CIA, specializing in the communications department, but her undercover occupation is librarian. Sylvia enjoys key lime pie and thai food from the restaurant she owns in San Francisco. Her favorite past time is reclining on the deck of her New York City loft sipping sweet lemonade and listening to Debussy. Her dream is to climb the Himalayas and create a pair of shoes using her own bare hands. For now though, she'll settle with being chic as hell.

P.s. Check out the little feature Glamour Fashion had me in here.

Orange Sorbet

I received this orange dotted scarf from the geniuses at Necklush. It adds the absolutely best springy punch to any outfit, especially one that contains basic colors like black and white. The first day I put it on a friend came over and immediately after seeing me she goes "I love your scarf!" I foresee a bright future for this orange sorbet Necklush and I.

Couldnt help but share this mystical looking picture that I took of my cat and my dog (whose in the background). These two are the funnest things ever.

May Day

Look ma, no black bar!
My mother decided that when I turned fourteen I didnt need to have the bar across my eyes any more, and while Im not abandoning my privacy companion fully, here are kinda(darn you bangs) my eyes!

For those of you wondering, these heels are sort of uncomfortable, but Im looking to get some Dr. Scholls to work that out.

Shadow Dancing

I decided to play down the fierceness of these boots by pairing them with boyfriend patched jeans and a plaid mens shirt. I am young, after all, no need looking older than I am.

The bracelets Im wearing are feng shui and are supposedly designed and color-coordinated to make me take charge of any room or group that Im leading. Kinda cool, huh?
